Namur's museums

Even the museums are located in architectural marvels. There are interesting collections from around the world, not forgetting the city's own talent!

The Archaeological Museum welcomes its visitors in a beautiful building dating back to the 1500s. The Diocesan Museum and Treasure of the Cathedral houses statues from the 13th to 17th centuries. The museum is accessed through the 12th-century Saint-Aubain cathedral.

The African Museum of Namur brings together ethnographic collections and documents from the Congolese colonial period.

The Groesbeeck de Croix Museum, a museum for decorative arts, is installed in a superb 18th-century patrician house. Also visit the Namur Provincial Museum of Ancient Arts.

The Felicien Rops Museum, which recently reopened its doors, is dedicated to this artist born in Namur. A friend of Verlaine, Maupassant and Baudelaire, Rops is the perfect representative of a dreamlike world dominated by the feminine figure.
