Only a stone's throw from Brussels, Walloon Brabant is best visited with the family. From heritage to adventure parks, with nature sites abound.
A wonderful natural heritage
Go for a stroll in the shade of grand old trees at the magnificent Cistercian Villers-la-Ville Abbey, and escape the hustle and bustle as you walk through the heart of abundant nature. A peaceful pleasure to be shared without moderation!
Get on your bike and ride into the wind in complete safety along the hundreds of kilometres of signposted trails that line Walloon Brabant. Its a natural delight that your children will love.
Havens of fun
Walibi theme park - an unmissable stop for families. Older children will love the 77m drop from the Dalton Terror or a hair-raising ride on the Vampire. Younger daredevils will take on the ladybird, a roller-coaster full of slopes and sinuous bends. As for the youngest visitors, they will climb aboard their favourite animals on an enchanting merry-go-round.
To round off your day in style, your children will love the shelter of palm trees and a tropical atmosphere of Aqualibi water park as they enjoy its multitude of slides and activities.
Aventure Parc Wavre! The whole family likes jumping and climbing from tree to tree... The trails are adapted for different age groups and are great for the more (and less) intrepid.
Fascinating museums
In Waterloo, your teenagers, accompanied by life-size horses and their riders, will discover the Memorial 1815, a genuine remembrance site that will plunge them into the heart of this battle that forever changed the course of European history. At Napoleon's final headquarters, younger children will relive the night before the battle, in the company of Napoleon, his officers, his camp aides and his surgeons.
Do your little monsters like discovery? Then not to worry, the museums let youngsters learn by having fun! They will learn all about the water cycle, art works and history at the Museum of Water and Fountains.
