GHOSTS, CLOGS AND ... BUFFALO

Known as the Ghost village "le village fantôme" the old village of ROMELDANGE is set in a deep valley cut by the river Sûre, in a remarkable place where nature is practically untouched. The site of LAVACHERIE holds a number of relics: Neolithic flints, Iron Age refuges, a bronze Gallic statuette, a Roman road as well as Gallic, Roman and Merovingian burial places. The sound of running water can be heard all around AWENNE whose attractiveness is accentuated by the wrought iron fountains constructed in the 19th century. One building dominates MIRWART: the castle (it cannot be visited). The chronicle of St. Hubert Abbey states that it was founded in 955. FLOHIMONT is certainly worth the detour. In the 17th century, the village was a soap producing centre.
