As an ambassador for Belgium, chocolate appears adorned in all its glory in the shop windows of the craftsmen of chocolate-making. Lined up like trophies, the famous 'pralines' can be found in every display window. Master chocolate-makers have also ventured into more exotic ranges.
Finally, to just melt with pleasure, go to the area around the Grand-Place and try 'spéculoos', traditional, light, crispy biscuits, there.
On this gourmet trail, real connoisseurs will also be able to take a break or two wherever our famous beer is to be found. Brown, blond, special or fruity, it's everywhere and, like chocolate, is prepared and enjoyed with great expertise.

CANTILLON BREWERY - BRUSSELS GUEUZE MUSEUM (ANDERLECHT)

CANTILLON BREWERY - BRUSSELS GUEUZE MUSEUM
    © P. Huyberechts
The Cantillon Brewery has just celebrated its one-hundredth anniversary and remains the only active brewery in Brussels which is open to the public. In order to achieve its aim of preserving the name and reputation of the lambic as well as some other beers from the same family, the brewery decided, in 1978, to open its facilities to the public and to become the Brussels Gueuze Museum. The brewery produces the Cantillon beers (gueuze, kriek, lambic, faro, framboise, Iris). As well as guided tours, brewing sessions in public take place twice a year. This live museum has Jean-Pierre Van Roy as its master brewer who keeps the family tradition alive. They also boast a star in the Michelin Guide.
