COUNTRYSIDE, POTTERY AND ... A DISTILLERY

BUVRINNES is noteworthy for its "green" side, its many chapels and crucifixes and its great number of large 18th century farms. RAGNIES is mainly noteworthy for its building heritage, especially its large farms in limestone and brick. Around GERPINNES, there are various villages with different features. Fromiée, the smallest village of the group consists mainly of rural dwellings constructed with limestone blocks. In the same way, the centre of the hamlet of Hymiée is made up of limestone houses. BOUFFIOULX is located to the north-east of Charleroi. Most of the houses in the centre of this little village are built in local stone. Bouffioulx used to be internationally known for its pottery.
