The Domaine provincial of Hélécine covers an area of almost 30 hectares. It used to be the location of the Premontres Abbey of Heylissem, founded in 1129 and rebuilt afterwards in Louis XVI style. We can admire the castle of the 18th century, in neoclassical style.
On the road of Villers-la-Ville, you should definitely stop at the Abbey of the Farm of la Ramée at Jauchelette (Jodoigne). This magnificent Brabant farm dates back to the 13th century when the Cistercian nuns made it their home. Only the outside of the site is accessible to the public. The Abbey of Villers is one of the largest Cistercian monasteries in Europe.

ABBEY OF VILLERS-LA-VILLE (VILLERS-LA-VILLE)

The Cistercian Abbey of Villers-la-Ville, which is now in ruins, was founded in 1146 under the impetus of Saint Bernard. This is one of the historical and sightseeing highlights of Wallonia. The building itself is a perfect example of Cistercian architecture. It has all the unadorned simplicity and the standard layout of the monasteries of that particular order. The abbey has a long history. Eight centuries have marked this monument whose main interest lies no doubt in the diversity of architectural styles which are difficult to find in such perfect harmony in the same place. The complex was usually built in the Romanesque style (in particular, a few buildings such as the hôtellerie and the mill), while the other buildings were fashioned in all the splendour of the Gothic style.

MUSEUM "FIRST WING HISTORICAL CENTER" (BEAUVECHAIN)

The 1WHC mainly decribes the history of the units on the Beauchevain Base from 1935 to today, emphasizing the presence of the fighter force from 1946 to 1996.

THE FARM OF THE ABBEY OF RAMEE (JAUCHELETTE)

The farm and the barn are all that remain of the former 13th-century Cistercian abbey. These are remarkable 18th-century buildings. In the barn, one of the largest in the country, visitors can marvel at the monumental roof timbers supported by impressive columns. The stables consist of an enormous hall whose ceiling is a triple brick semicircular vault. The entire construction is listed and has been converted into a seminar and reception centre with a theatre hall. A fruiticum can be visited in the abbey's old orchards.

THE REGIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM (ORP-LE-GRAND)

Former outbuilding of the farm, converted in 1970 (1st floor).
Regional archaeology, from the Palaeolithic to the Merovingian Age.
In particular, the camping artefacts of the Magdalenian hunters, the Neolithic flint mines at Orp-Jauche, the Gallo-roman "vicus" of Braives, Perniciacum, and the Merovingian cemetery of Orp-le-Grand.
