Founded in 1132, the Notre-Dame of Orval is one of the most remarkable Cistercian abbeys in Belgium. Set in a deep valley, it is still home to a bustling community of monks. Its spring, secular rose window and medicinal plant garden are the three main attractions. You can complete the tour by visiting the museum, which has been fitted in the 18th century foundations, and discover the history of the monastery through the reconstruction of old forges, a model of the abbey constructed by Laurent Dewez and a pictorial of Brother Abraham, a famous 18th century painter. The abbey was rebuilt in 1926 on the foundations of the monastery that was destroyed during the French Revolution.
