The botanical arboretum at Bouillon was established in 1906 and contains about 150 exotic and indigenous species of broad leaved trees and conifers. There is the finest Tsuga mertensiana in Belgium and an Abies grandis which would take the silver medal. At La Gernelle, there is a geographical arboretum containing conifers from the Rocky Mountains (western United States) which self-seed prolifically. These arboretums are places of great interest: scientific, dendrological, botanical, medical (homeopathy), educational and cultural. They also provide an attractive landscape for tourism.
