Freÿr sur Meuse Castle and its Gardens

Freÿr sur Meuse is a Renaissance castle with stunning gardens and is part of Wallonia's protected architectural heritage.

The Castle of Freÿr is situated between Waulsort and Dinant, in a breathtaking setting on the banks of the Meuse, only 100km from Brussels.

The Castle

The ancient summer residence of the Beaufort-Spontin dukes welcomes you in a refined and cosmopolitan interior.

Its magnificent sitting rooms have been furnished and decorated by the 20 generations that have inhabited them over the centuries. They are an invitation to visit the castle and experience its history in a glorious natural setting.

The gardens

The Castle is blessed with sweeping classical gardens, set out in a variety of styles. Their defining features, are without doubt, the 300-year-old orange trees and their orangeries, which are among the oldest in the country.

Loose yourself in the six-kilometre labyrinth or, if you prefer, sit and day-dream at the feet of the charming Trianon.

Opening hours

• From 1st April to 15th November: open on weekends and bank holidays from 11am to 5pm.
• July and August: also open Tuesdays to Fridays from 11am to 5pm.

Open all year for groups of minimum 20 people.

Prices

Adults - €8 per person.

Children over 12 years old, students, seniors over 65 years old and groups - €6.5 per person.

Free for children under 12 accompanied by an adult.

Tour guides are available on request in French, Dutch, English, German and Spanish - €50.

Don't miss:

Every year, in the afternoon of 1st May, the orange trees are taken out and put in the garden.
