The garden of the abbey of la Cambre, a haven of peace in the noise of the city, is a picturesque site full of history. The gardens, laid out in the beginning of the 18th century, are composed of five successive terraces. We reach it by an entrance in a Louis XIV style, which has two boss pillars with two volutes and topped by vases. The monumental stairs, with its two large flights of stairs, creates an imposing symmetry. The buildings are in a French style of the 18th century. The church dates back to the 14th century. On the first terrace, on the right, a stylish small Louis XV pavilion. South of the gardens, the Sint-Bonifacius chapel. On the opposite, the monument realised by Pierre Braecke in 1922 and dedicated to the writer Camille Lemonnier.
