The orchard was created in 1990 and is managed by Anicet Fraselle. Its main purpose is to provide a living museum to preserve old varieties of fruit trees, to discover others, to study their disease resistance in the harsh climate of the central Ardennes and to teach grafting, planting and pruning techniques. All these activities are carried out in close cooperation with the plant pathology centre at Gembloux.
