The Mariemont park, created in the 16th century by Marie of Hungary whose name it still bears, was bought in the 19th century by an important dynasty of industrialists, the Warocqués. It is laid out in the English style, with lawns, lakes and foliage, age-old trees and exotic species, and fine sculptures side by side with the ruins of Charles of Lorraine's palace. Although nothing remains of the gardens of the past, few gardens have been so well restored and modernised than this one, including old magnificent beeches, fir trees... Rhododendrons and azaleas brighten the park during May, after which the super floral english garden takes over. The Mariemont Royal Museum, opened in 1975, replaces the 19th century chateau which was destroyed by a fire in 1960.

Access : E19 motorway exit 20 (Feluy) then N59 towards Thuin, or E42, exit 18 bis (Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont) then towards Thuin, or exit 19 (Manage) then towards Mariemont - Train : La Louvière Centre station - Bus : lines 30, 80, 82, 130, 132 towards Morlanwelz, La Hestre stop.
