This memorial that was erected along the route Ploegsteert - Ypres was inaugurated in June 1931. It is a kind of circular temple with impressive dimensions. It is supported by colonnades and guarded by 2 stone lions. The names of the 11,447 soldiers and officers of the British Empire who didn't get a grave, are engraved in it forever. Every first Friday of the month at 7 pm, a Last Post ceremony is held.
There are about twenty military cemeteries on the Comines-Warneton territory and they distinguish themselves by their steles in Euville stone that emit a sober beauty. Numerous pilgrims from all over the world gather here every year and leave a message in the registers that can be found at the entry of each cemetery.
