A la mort subite, a family tradition, at the centre of Brussels, to serve you: Gueuzes, Trappistes, Kriek, beers and bar snacks.

  • The original Mort Subite.

  • A place, a Gueuze, a family.

  • A banqueting hall.

A game put a new light on everything.

The name Mort Subite comes from a game of dice or cards, played in a Brussels bar known as "La Cour Royale", which was in full swing at the start of the twentieth Century and was run by a certain Théophile Vossen. The establishment was nicknamed "La Mort Subite" and it was logical that the owner gave this name to his establishment when, in 1928, it moved to the rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères, its current location!

The family has increased in size.

Théophile Vossen also gave the name "Mort Subite" to the beer (gueuze and kriek) that he brewed.

The Mort Subite range has increased in size. Today you can sample : Gueuze Mort Subite, Kriek Mort Subite, raspberry Mort Subite, blackcurrant Mort Subite, peach Mort Subite … And all these products will be served to you by the fourth generation of Vossens.

The tavern, A La Mort Subite, has a room on the first floor with seating for 70 people.

Bar snacks are also available.

Discover the original flavour of the Mort Subite Gueuzes that are served here.
