Floreffe Abbey

The Abbey of Floreffe, of the Premonstratensian monastic order, was founded by St Norbert in 1121. It towers over the valley of the river Sambre. The various buildings are grouped around the formal Courtyard and date from between the 12th and 18th centuries. The abbey church is 100m long and contains some magnificent baroque choir stalls. The mediaeval outbuildings of the abbey host a fascinating museum. The mill and brewery, which date from 1250 and form the oldest industrial building in the Province of Namur open their doors to the public so that you may taste the various products made in the Abbey. There is also a craft-shop with the various local handicrafts. Should you fancy holding a reception or meeting at the abbey, different-sized rooms are available.

Mill: weekdays from 2 January to 31 December from 11am to 6pm; weekends from 11am to 8pm
Traditional boutique: from 1pm to 6pm; closed on Mondays
