The Thuin poet Mathieu Anciaux, writing under the pseudonym "Jean de la Biemelle", has left a vivid account of the past splendours of the hanging gardens of Thuin: cascading down the slopes, the terraced gardens set out their abundant plants, fruits and flowers between the river and the sky. This was a marvel in the days when the fortunate owners grew vines here and other necessities of life. Restored at present, they offer visitors an unrestricted view. Nice walk enlivened by 11 explanatory signs.
