In a gently undulating landscape, situated on the two slopes of a small valley and watered by the Molignée and the Floyon rivers, FALAËN is noteworthy for its dwellings made from limestone above which stand the church spire and the three high towers of the Castle-farm. For three centuries, BOUVIGNES was a famous centre of the copper industry. This small market town has kept numerous signs of its rich and troubled past. Established in the hollow of the picturesque Molignée valley, MAREDRET reveals, at the foot of the abbey which dominates it, limestone dwellings dating mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries. Maredret and the charm of its rural life has attracted a number of skilled craftsmen to settle here which is why today it has become known as the "Village Artisanal".

    Extra information:

The story goes that in 1466 during the siege of the Town by Charles the Bold, the Dinant Biscuit, moulded in copper-ware, replaced the bread which they could not get. The start of real commercial production goes back to 1720. The Dinant biscuit consists of a fine mixture of flour and pure honey. It is cooked at a very high temperature and the honey is caramelised. When it cools down it hardens, like a caramel.
